Welcome to my Homepage!

My name is Dee “Dixie” “Dizzy” Scriber and I have just completed my seventh published work of fiction and poetry. I have called the little town of Creston, Louisiana (just north of Natchitoches, Louisiana) home for the past fifty years and I am pleased to be live on the web for the first time. This page launched the day before my 101st birthday!

For now, my published books are these:

  • A Wee Book of Many Mini-Stories
  • A Scrap of Paper and a Pencil Stub
  • My Bucket’s Got a Hole in It and My Bicycle’s Got a Flat

  • My First 99 Years
  • Never Too Old to Raise a Little Hell… In Willow Hollow (Order Online)

Hey there Cousin! Look at you with your own web site! If 101 is such fun I can’t wait to see what 102 brings for you. Peggy has been great at keeping me up on your celebration. I will share everything with the California Cousins when I go there next month. You sure do deserve all this.

Such a cute and sponky lady you are… Everyday I look to renew my smile and today you are that person.

My new favorite quote: “As long as you have breath, you have just enough ego and spirit to say: I can do. I will do..”

    Hi Dixie!
We just received a phone call from your sister, Doris! My mom, Bertha Simmons, and your sis were good friends when they attended Shaw St. Church of Christ in Pasadena, TX back in the “fifties”. Your sister is such a sweet lady. My Mom just passed three years ago at 95 yrs old. She out-lived all of our relatives on both sides!

It’s great that you are so active. God has blessed you so much. It gives me joy to know you are still doing
    something that brings you pleasure.

I am the most fortunate person on the planet! You see, Ms. Dixie, is my monther-in-law, but I don’t like that “tag”, I look at her as my Mom! She has inspired me as longas I’ve known her (50 years now). Her son (Bobby) and I will be celebrating out 50th wedding anniversary this coming January. I have loved her from the very day that I met her. She is an extraordinary person to know. She has more energy about her than myself and she makes circle around me! I love, love, all of her books and have read them several times,
while waiting for the next one to be published. Dixe, you amaze me still. Keep on writing all the wonderful stories. God has surely blessed you through the years. You are a very special human being. From your best and loyal fan forever, Shirley.

Dee is in Natchitoches Parish Hospital right now, undergoing physical rehab, but she looks absolutely beautiful and she is a heck of a lot sharper than I am! She and her writings are Louisiana treasures. I hope I get invited to your 102nd birthday party to watch you smoke the next cigarette from that $5 pack, Ms. Dee!

a poem about Dixie Dee: “There Once Was A Lady Named Dixie”

There once was a lady named “Dixie”, Who wrote poetry about everybody she knew.
She doesn’t care who the subject might be; She even wrote one about a Catholic Priest!

“Father Dan” she called him by name; Poor guy, she nearly put him to shame.
She even went so far and read the poem in church; And really left the poor guy in a lurch!

Dixie Dee, as we all know her, you see; Is as fiesty as she can be, So just watch out folks,
she surfs the net; This lady of ninety even has an e-mail address!

    She knows all the lingo, and then a little some; To click,save and paste and a http://www.com;
So people on the web, I’m telling you BEWARE; The internet will never be the same,
Because Dixie Dee is there!! (poem written when she was 92 years young, by her daughter-in-law,
Shirley Anne Hooper-Scriber) So Dixie, “you go girl!!”

P.S. The above poem is exactly the way everything happened. She read the poem after Mass to the
    congregation before they all left.
